What is Adventure Therapy?

Adventure Therapy is grounded in the tradition of “Experiential Education” “learning by doing, with added reflection”. This experienced based learning tradition is based on the belief that development is a result of direct experience, and that you optimally learn when they have multiple senses actively involved in the process.

By increasing the intensity of the mental and physical demands of learning in an adventurous environment, you “engage all sensory systems in  learning, and therefore have the opportunity to change process's”.

You will work with your same BACP qualified therapist from induction to conclusion. Topics of discussion are led by you. We operate a person centred approach. This means we believe you are the expert of you and take direction from yourself. Our role is as the expert in therapy and will help you navigate your journey. Therefore we do not have specific areas we claim to be specialists within as all staff have trained in holistic intervention across the therapeutic spectrum.

The multi-sensory level of the therapeutic experience within adventurous activities may account for the high level of change reported by participants.
